OVERVIEW
Are you a youth mountain biker between the ages of 8 and 12 who has already attended the Youth Devo Weekend Camps and are ready for the next step? Are you an experienced rider but aren’t sure you’re ready for the overnight Mountain Bike Camp filled with all-day epic rides? Answer “yes” to either of those, and this camp is for you! The Youth Devo Travel Camp is intended for intermediate-level riders who are ready to spend more time riding and applying their mountain bike skills to more technical trails. Not sure you are ready for this camp? We suggest attending the Youth Devo Weekend Camp to brush up on your skills and see how you feel.
Taking place over 5 days, this co-ed weekday camp is essentially a mini-version of our popular Travel Camp, giving campers the opportunity to experience more of the amazing trails in the Charlottesville area. These will include, but are not limited to:
More advanced trails and skills-park features at Miller School of Albemarle
Preddy Creek
Walnut Creek
After drop-off at Miller School of Albemarle each morning, instructors will lead a specific mountain bike skills drill, and then the trail riding begins! Depending on the day’s ride plan, this will either involve diving into the Miller School’s expansive network of campus trails and skills parks, or loading bikes into a dedicated cycling trailer and driving Miller School’s buses to an area trailhead. After lunch each day, there will be more time for riding, as well as swimming and even some trail-building time. There is a certified Athletic Trainer and Life Guard in attendance for every ride and water-based activity.
Food:
We ask that riders bring their own lunch. We provide plenty of fluids, ride food, and snacks. There are refrigerators and coolers available each morning to store lunches.
